Optimism: I have faced many rainy days in the last year. The only thing that helped me through the crazy time is the belief that things would get better. So I put the top down, and kept driving. Perhaps it is not quite sunny, but at least the rain seems to be letting up...
The car pictured above is "Oranglicious." I referred to this as my divorce car. It is the first car I ever purchased alone, and a big change from my previous vehicle - a gold Honda Odyssey.
ReplyDeleteThe car was named when I took it into my office, and was roundly ridiculed by my coworkers. As a joke, one of them said, "Just don't get a license plate that says 'Oranglicious'." The name stuck.
Oranglicious was fun, but alas, it was my transition car. When I bought a house and began moving the few possessions that I managed to recover from my 13 year marriage, it became painfully obvious how impractical of a car Oranglicious was.
I have since traded her in and now drive a PT Cruiser. It is also fun, and my boys like it, but it is not the same. :-(
I traded Oranglicious in on the night that I found out my wife's boyfriend's daughter was moving into my old house. I went to "happy" hour with my boss and some other coworkers and ended up at the Chrysler dealership. Here is a helpful hint -- Don't go to a dealership after happy hour. It is likely not to end well.
I guess it is a sign of returning to normalcy that I am now driving a car that does not have a name. Here's to normalcy.
OK - I still have the PT Cruiser, but I also got a black Alfa Romeo. It came pre-named, "Il Gatto Nero" -- the Black Cat. Back to having cars with names...
